Jason B. Baker

Jason Baker is a career military officer with an educational background in political science and national security studies and the author of the Chicago To Appomattox. A native of the northern Illinois area the regiment was from, Jason had two ancestors in the little-known 39th Illinois Infantry, whose journey the book details.

Jason's fiction titles, The Ace's Bounty and The Sheriff's Pursuit, use his study of Civil War-era America to place exciting adventure stories and mysteries in historically accurate portrayals of the time.

Jason holds a master's degree in U.S. national security and foreign policy from American University and a B.A. in political science from the University of Illinois. His professional passion is studying how strategic, political, and social issues affect military operations and vice versa, and his personal love is learning all he can about the Civil War era and America's westward expansion.

Jason is a Color Bearer donor to the American Battlefield Trust and enjoys following the University of Illinois and Chicago sports teams, reading narrative non-fiction and historical fiction, playing golf, and visiting museums, historical sites, and battlefields. He and his wife and two young sons reside in Alexandria, Virginia.
